Installing the NV120

Installing the NV120 is quite easy. The instructions are nice and clear; and to aid you that much more, all the retention brackets are stamped as to what socket they are for. Attaching the bracket was easy; 4 small screws attach it to the base of the cooler.

For the socket LGA775 there is an all metal backing plate. To help insulate the backing plate from the motherboard, there is a rubber-like material applied to it. This material is also sticky to help hold it place while you install the cooler.

Another nice feature is that the fan is removable from the base. Why is this nice? Well, this means that the fan can be replaced if it happens to fail, replaceable parts are always good.

Another plus for having the removable fan is that it allows for easier access to the retention screws when using the LGA775 mount. After mounting, the fan easily snaps back into place. I did however run into one small snag with this cooler once installed into the case. Due to its height there was interference with the side case fan on the Antec P190. To fix the clearance issue for testing the case fan on the door had to be removed.
