Xbox Adaptive Controller Now Available

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox Adaptive Controller is now available for gamers with challenges to order. The controller is aimed specifically at challenged gamers that need a controller that will work with other gaming accessories on the market for people that have various disease and health conditions that often limit mobility. The controller sells for $99.99 making it a relative bargain on the specialty controller market.

Microsoft designed the controller to work with just about any of the specialty gaming items that are already out there now. The controller supports both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. The controller user can remap buttons and create controller profiles using an app on the Xbox or Windows 10.

Power comes from an internal rechargeable battery that charges via a USB-C cable. The design of the controller has two massive buttons on the top along with a D-pad on the side. The real functionality comes in the ability to support huge numbers of add-ons from various manufacturers.

Microsoft wrote that the controller is “Built from the ground up through strong partnerships with The AbleGamers Charity, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, SpecialEffect, Warfighter Engaged, and many community members. Input from these groups has helped shape the design, functionality, and packaging of the Xbox Adaptive Controller.”
