Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus Offers Sweet Wolfstone 3D Easter Egg
Any gamer who has been around for awhile knows about Wolfenstein 3D. In fact, back in the ’90s this was the first FPS title I ever saw and played. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is launching today and Gamespot has a cool Easter Egg inside the game to point out that fans will definitely want to spend some time with. This is a bit of a spoiler though so you are warned.
The game takes place on a German U-boat and between shooting modern Nazis you can pull up to an arcade cabinet in the U-boat and play a game called Wolfstone 3D. The game is a playable version of Wolfenstein 3D with German characters and new textures.
Wolfstone 3D has all six episodes from Wolfenstein 3D for you to play. This is very cool meaning you get a fully playable version of a retro Wolfenstein 3D title to enjoy along with the new game. The video at the source shows some spoilers for New Colossus, but it also shows some of a game I haven’t spent time with in decades.
The retro nostalgia is strong with this one. All the hidden levels you might remember from back in the day are there. All those attacking dogs are there too. You may not know that Wolfenstein is one of the longest-running game franchises spanning over 35 years.
