Windows 8’s Successor To Be Codenamed Windows Blue?

By

According to unconfirmed rumours and inside leaks, it looks like the next version of, Windows, “Windows 9”, is going to be codenamed “Windows Blue”. Also, it looks like the operating system may be released in 2013.

This is further evidence that Microsoft is chasing Apple’s business model, where they release “little and often” at low prices – basically charging for a combined service and feature pack rather than releasing a major revision every few years. Also, this isn’t the first time that Microsoft has used the Blue codename. It has previously been used for Windows Azure and MSN.

I’ve heard the next version of Windows is not going to be Windows 9. Instead, I’ve heard from a couple of my contacts that some kind of an update is coming next year. The Windows release codenamed “Blue” — mentioned by Win8China last week — is likely the codename of this interim release, my contacts claim.
