Windows 8 Second Release Preview Coming in June

By

Microsoft’s Windows 8 customer preview released February 29 is not the last. Windows unit president Steven Sinofsky has stated at a Windows Developer Days event in Japan that Microsoft will be releasing a Release Preview in the first week of June, which will be the third and final development release of Windows 8 before its official launch. This will be good news for people interested in trying out the new features and refinements as well as also give another chance for those that don’t like the new Metro interface to have their say.

Microsoft has not given a firm release date for the final product, but it’s widely believed that it will be released in the fall.

Windows 8 is a huge bet for Microsoft, as the company is counting on it not only to power mainstream PCs but also to help battle the threat posed by the iPad and other tablets. It features a radically overhauled interface, first shown at last years D9 conference, as well as a built-in Windows Store for selling apps.
