By

For anyone that’s looking forward to Windows 8 and its controversial new Metro interface, they will now know exactly how long they will have to wait to get their hands on it. Steven Sinosfky announced at Microsoft’s annual sales meeting that customers will be able to buy Windows 8, either as an upgrade or with a new PC on October 26.

Rumours have been circulating for some time that the retail version will be dropped and only an OEM system builder version will be offered, however, the price is still unknown. The upgrade version will be available to anyone with a licence for XP, Vista or 7 for $39.99.
