Western Digital 3TB Caviar Green Hard Drive Review
ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.46
ATTO is one of the oldest hard drive benchmarks that is still used
today. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It
measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the
data into graphs that you can easily interpret. The test was run with
the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total
length being 256mb.

Benchmark Results: The WD Caviar Green 3TB drive was able to
reach 128MBps on the read test and 107MBps on the write test in the
Overlapped I/O benchmark. The WD Caviar Green 2TB drive didn’t give up, though, as it put down respectable scores of 112MB/s read and 110MB/s write!
4MB Files Test Comparison Chart – Overlapped I/O: The Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB drive with the four 750GB platters was just slightly faster than the WD VelociRaptor 300GB drive in the read test! Not bad performance from a ‘green’ drive that is aimed at large storage and not necessarily performance.
