Watch AMD’s Capsaicin Event During GDC 2016 Live Tonight
AMDs Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) Capsaicin Event starts in just two hours! We aren’t sure exactly what is going to be shown during the one hour press conference being held in San Francisco tonight as our invite only said that we’d get to see the latest gaming and virtual reality technologies as well as try out the spiciest dishes around. AMD later confirmed on social media that they will be having a sneak peak of next-generation Polaris GPU architecture! We can expect to see products from HTC, Oculus, Crytek and of course Sulon. The Sulon Q headset is the worlds first and only all-in-one, tether-free, wear and play headset for virtual reality, augmented reality, and spatial computing. Inside the Sulon Q you’ll find a sub 35W AMD Carrizo FX-8800P processor with Radeon R7 Graphics, so we are certain that AMD will be showing that off at the Capsaicin event tonight.
Why is RTG calling this event Capsaicin? For started you’d have to personally know Raja Koduri, Senior Vice President of Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) at AMD, as he loves hot peppers. The essence of a chili pepper derives from a chemical compound known as 8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide, or capsaicin, the legendary and mysterious substance that delivers a chilis spicy kick. Could this be some creative word play that means RTG will be exploring the ‘inner essence’ of the Polaris GPU?
Watch the live event below that starts at 4pm PDT. Maybe we will all understand why AMD is calling this event Capsaicin and learn how exactly AMD is going to be sending gamers into scoville-induced euphoria!
