VisionTek 120GB USB 3.0 Pocket SSD Drive Review
The SSD Benchmark Test System
Before we look at the numbers, lets take a brief look at the test system that was used. All testing was done on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and benchmarks were completed on the desktop with no other software programs running. Windows has the power option set to high performance.

VisionTek USB 3.0 Portable SSD 120GB Capacity:
VisionTek USB 3.0 Portable SSD S.M.A.R.T. Info and Temperatures:
CrystalDiskInfo shows the VisionTek USB 3.0 Pocket SSD supports S.M.A.R.T., APM, NCQ and TRIM. While the controller supports TRIM we have been told that TRIM will not work over USB 3.0 on this particular drive. We also heard these drives got hot and found that the drive got up to 48C after moving four 4GB movie files. This means that the metal housing get warm to the touch, but it isn’t hot enough to be a major concern.
ASUS USB 3.0 Boost:
We wanted to make sure ASUS USB 3.0 Boost was enabled and opened up AI Suite 3 and sure enough the drive showed up as having UASP support. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 showed up as a SCSI Disk Device in Windows 8.1.
Let’s have a look at the performance!
