Ultra Products 1200 Watt Uninterruptible Power Supply
Testing: Pulling The Cord
To test out the Ultra UPS we simply pulled the cord and waiting till our system ran out of power and crashed. Nothing special here! Honestly we just pulled the plug with our system running.
At 18:00 hours (6pm) we pulled the cord and the power supply battery level instantly went from 100% down to 77% where it stayed for nearly six minutes. On the previous page we talked about how our test system draws 192W of power which puts a 16% load level on the UPS. The UPSMON v2.743 software that comes bundled with the UPS shows 15%, which confirms that our Seasonic PowerAngel meter reading is within reason. The UPS slowly began to drain from here to the next screen shot.
After running on the battery for 26 minutes we reached the half way point, well almost, it skiped from 51% to 49% and never really hit the half way mark.
Seven minutes after the half way mark that took 26 minutes to reach the battery level was down to 30%, which is sooner than expected based on time it took for the battery to drain from 100% to 50%.
Just 27 seconds later that 30% was long gone and it decreased to 22%.
At exactly 35 minutes into our testing the Ultra 2000 VA 1200W Backup UPS w/ AVR was down to just 7% battery life. Just 20 seconds after this screen shot was taken out system shut off when the battery was completely drained. Our test system that was comprised of one high end computer and a standard 19″ LCD monitor drained the battery in 35 minutes and 20 seconds, which is far less than the claimed 80-90 minutes of backup time.
