UK Teenager Questioned in Global Hacking by LulzSec

By

British police investigating with America’s FBI a series of computer hacking attacks on international companies said on Tuesday they had arrested a 19-year-old man in eastern England. London’s Metropolitan Police said they had arrested the teenager in Wickford, Essex, on suspicion of computer misuse and fraud offenses. For its part, LulzSec seemed bemused by the arrest and had this to say on twitter: “Clearly the UK police are so desperate to catch us that they’ve gone and arrested someone who is, at best, mildly associated with us. Lame.” It sounds like the person that has been held for questioning hosted a chat room for the group and wasn’t actually part of it. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out!

“The arrest follows an investigation into network intrusions and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group,” the Metropolitan Police said. “The teenager was arrested on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act, and Fraud Act offences.”
