Thermaltake labels the Theron as an RTS mouse as a result of the collaboration with now retired Starcraft II pro Ball. Though Thermaltake does have tendencies to overthink or overengineer some of its products, the Theron exhibits safe design principles to handle competitive gaming demands. Not seen are exotic materials, unconventional designs, or goofy features. There is a subjective cool factor going on with the lighting zones all around the mouse. The 5600 DPI laser sensor was a thing back in its day and the max sensitivity is still needlessly excessive. As it stands, the Theron is a good mouse overall, showing a great deal of competency for the RTS games it was designed in mind for. Its aged very well during a time where the fast-paced strategy game scene has grown to include gamers playing DOTA 2 and League of Legends.

The Therons claw grip ergonomic generously supports the parts of the hand that contact the mouse. It is both wide and tall enough to support most of the palm and fingers except for the index and middle finger which are forced to arch over the mouse and leave the tips of the fingers in contact with the buttons. There are two pronounced, but not deal breaking problems with this mouse. One is the fairly pointless side button on the left edge of the mouse for the ring finger. The other is the placement of the scroll wheel, positioned farther away from the edge, for which some people will roll the wheel with the tip of their finger instead of the pad of finger as is more typical with most mice.

Since the Theron has been available since 2012, it should come as no surprise that its price has matured to a reasonable $50.10 on Amazon. The mouses feature set doesnt outdo that of other $50 ergonomic gaming mice, but it also doesnt sell short of the norm at that price point. With that in mind, the Therons biggest selling point in that crowded market space is its claw grip ergonomic shape. The Theron is deserving of a recommendation and is definitely worth considering for ones next gaming mouse.
