Power Consumption and Final Thoughts

When it comes to power efficiency the TRENDnet WiFi Baby Cam did pretty well. TRENDnet says that the device uses up to 5 Watts of power, but on our Watts up? Pro power meter we were seeing 2.7 Watts during the daytime and 3.9 Watts being used at night. When we played music in addition to streaming the video the power use went up 0.1 Watts, which is basically nominal. As a worst case scenario you are looking adding $4.91 to your yearly electric bill if you use the camera 24/7 in low light situations where the IR LED camera must be used at all times and playing music. This assumes you are being charged $0.14 per 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) by your utility company. Using it 24/7 during the daytime would put you at about $3.31 per year.

Overall we are extremely happy with the way that the TRENDnet WiFi Baby Cam performed. For starters this camera is affordably priced at $67.99 shipped with a limited 3-year warranty. That is impressive for the wide number of features that you get with this camera. The 640×480 resolution isn’t ideal, but it works and it the camera is able to produce pretty good details in both light and dark situations.

After we used the TRENDnet WiFi Baby Cam for a few weeks we ended up ditching the wall outlet and connected it to a portable USB battery back as shown above. This allowed us to power the camera without being tied to a wall outlet with the supplied 5-foot long AC adapter, which was great and since it uses such little power we were able to use it for weeks on a 6000mAh USB battery pack since we just used it for several hours here and there. The number of things you can do with a WiFi camera like this is astounding and we highly suggest trying one out if you have never used one before! The setup is ridiculously easy and it has enough features to keep even the most tech savvy consumers happy!

Legit Bottom Line: The TRENDnet WiFi Baby Camera is simple to use, has a robust feature set and is priced below many of the competing brands out there!
