Toshiba to Announce Android Tablet at CES 2011

By

Toshiba has debuted their second ever Android-based tablet computer this week. The 10-inch follow-up to the Toshiba Folio 100 will feature a NVIDIA twin-core Tegra 2 chip and support 1080p video and have a 5-megapixel back facing camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The tablet will not ship until June however, but is expected to rival the Apple iPad in price. We should see more of the tablet at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

Toshiba said the tablet will be available in the “first half” of 2011; it seems as if Toshiba is waiting to release the tablet in order to ensure it ships with Honeycomb installed. It’s a smart business move, but some of you will scoff at the announcement of the Honeycomb device before it is ready to be shown off. Only visits to Toshiba’s booth at CES will prove whether the device currently is running Honeycomb, or if the Toshiba is merely promising that it will ship with Honeycomb.
