TOSHIBA Announces Canvio Premium and TransMemory EX Dual
LAS VEGAS CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW January 5, 2016 Toshibas Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Canvio Premium, a series of portable hard disk drives (HDDs) featuring both USB Type-A and USB Type-CTM compatibility, as well as the TransMemory EX Dual, a dual port Type-A and Type-C flash drive engineered for quick and easy transfers between devices.
USB Type-C is slated to become the new standard in universal connectors, said Maciek Brzeski, Vice President Branded Storage Products, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division, Although widespread adoption is still in its infancy, weve designed the Canvio Premium and TransMemory EX Dual devices to be compatible with this technology so that our users can bridge the gap between their existing hardware and the latest high-end machines. These devices will maximize portability and convenience for years to come.
Type-C Compatibility
Canvio Premium portable drives provide a convenient and user-friendly storage option that is compatible with conventional USB 3.0 devices and USB Type-C devices via an included onboard adapter. This allows the drives to integrate seamlessly into users existing ecosystem of devices as the Canvio Premium HDDs can be used with a wide array of PCs from ten-year-old machines to the latest convertible laptop without the need to purchase separate hardware.
The TransMemory EX Dual features a dual interface with both USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports. With read and write speeds up to 95MB/s and 80MB/s1 transfer photos, videos and documents to and from their existing devices.
Diverse Software
Compatible with both Mac and PC devices, Canvio Premium HDDs feature a comprehensive lineup of software catering to personal and business users alike. The HDD Password Tool allows users to prevent unauthorized access to their files, while NTI Back Now EZ2 up and recovery solution to prevent the loss of crucial data. Users can also benefit from Pogoplug PC, which provides 10GB of cloud storage that can be accessed remotely from smartphones, tablets or other mobile devices.

Inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, Toshibas Canvio Premium and TransMemory EX Dual both embody a simple, yet sophisticated design in a timeless metallic structure. Warranty, Pricing and Availability
Canvio Premium portable HDDs are available for purchase at select retailers and on toshiba.com/us in 1TB, 2TB and 3TB capacities for $84.99, $129.99 and $159.99 MSRP respectively. All models come with a standard limited three-year warranty. The TransMemory EX Dual will be available in the first half of 2016 in a 32GB capacity for $39.99MSRP.
