TiVo Announces New Pricing – Cheaper and More Confusing

TiVo, the original personal Digital Video Recorder has announced a new holiday special for their line of DVRs. Responding to the market that is awash in set-top boxes like the Apple TV or Roku line media players, TiVo has dropped the price of their basic box from $299.99 to $99.99. The confusion comes in picking out the best subscription for you.
The company is now offering three purchase options for its standard Premiere box:
- $299.99 for the box and $12.95 a month, with a one-year minimum;
- $99.99 for the box and $19.99 a month, with a one-year minimum;
- $0 for the box and $19.99 a month, with a two-year minimum.
With any of the options, you’re locking into the monthly fee-either $12.95 or $19.99-for as long as you use the box.
