The XFX 7600 GS PCIe Video Card Review
Temperatures
Since the GeForce 7600 GS is passively cooled many wonder just how hot it will get when running 3D applications. In our first test we ran it in a case with the door off and a single 120mm fan in the rear of the case located above the video card.
At idle we were getting core temperatures of around 53C. We then played Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for about 60 minutes to find load temperatures.
After 60 minutes of intense game play we found that the core on the GeForce 7600 GS was running at a warm 76C under load. Not bad for a card that has no fan and is running the latest game titles at full blast.
I then put a 80mm case fan angled up at the cards and the difference was amazing.
At idle the GPU core temperature dropped from 53C to 43C after adding the 80mm fan!
While playing GRAW the load temperature went from 76C to 54C, which is a 22C drop thanks to the fan. The take home message from this testing is this — In cases worth poor air flow expect temperatures to be around 53C / 76C (Idle/Load) and in cases with good air flow expect temperatures of 43C / 54C.
