The CoolIT Systems RAM Fan Review
Sound Testing
One thing most people forget about when adding fans is the increased sound noise as a result of fan spinning. In the case of the CoolIT RAM Fan it was a bit loud. We removed the chipset fan that was previously on the system and powered on the system without the RAM Fan plugged in to get an idea of what the noise level of the system was without the CoolIT RAM Fan.
Fan Specifications:
-
Size: 60x60x10 mm
-
Airflow: 17.74 CFM
-
Speed: 4200 RPM
-
dBA: 31.6
-
Power: 12V/2W
The sound level meter showed an average noise level of 52dB. We then plugged in the CoolIT Ram Fan and took a new reading
With the RAM Fan turned on (notice the blue LED lights are own now) the sound meter was showing a constant noise level of 68dB. The CoolIT RAM Fan was by far louder than the XFX GeForce 8800GTX and the Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooler, which made it the loudest fan on the test system.
