Tesla Motors Taking Final Orders For Roadster

By

We heard that Tesla Motors will stop taking orders for Roadster soon as they plan on making just 2,500 of the cars. We contacts Tesla this afternoon and they believe that the final allotment of Roadsters will be sold out in about two months, possibly three. The carmaker is going to shift focus on its Model S electric sedan that runs $58,000 and can comfortably seat a small family. The Tesla Roadster is priced around $109,000 dollars. If you want to order one and plan on financing it you’ll need to put down 25% and then finance the rest over six years or for cash buyers Tesla will take $9,900 as a down payment and accept the rest when the car is built. It takes about three months to finish the build from the time the paperwork is signed. It is always a sad day when a high performance car makes way for a family sedan!

With production drawing to a close, Tesla Motors Inc. has sold almost all of the remaining electric Roadsters destined for the U.S. market, said Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk. Supplies will last longer in Europe and Japan, but not by much. “I think there’s a handful of cars left to sell in the U.S.,” Musk said. “People in Europe and Japan probably have another six months to place orders for the Roadster. In the U.S., it’s maybe a month or two.”
