Tenth Death Reported at Foxconn China Plant

By

Remember a couple weeks back that we informed you that the eighth and ninth employee committed suicide at Foxconn China plant in just 3 months? Well, one more employee just jumped from the roof of the facility’s office building this morning (May 25). The incident this morning marks the eleventh fall, nine of which were fatal, at the plant this year. The CEO of the company refutes sweat factory claims and reminded us that the company has 800,000 employees. I guess losing 10 people out of 800,000 isn’t bad.

Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) chairman Terry Guo has refuted a report claiming the company operates a sweat factory, saying that the company’s facility in Shenzhen, China has over 800,000 employees and there are many truths about conditions inside the company that outsiders are not aware of. However, Guo acknowledged that the company will be judged by its actions, not its words, and said he is confident that the situation will be stabilized soon.
