Super Talent’s T800UX2GC4 PC2-6400 Memory Kit
Overclocking The Super Talent Memory
With a warranty supporting overclocking and these modules being listed under overclocking on the Super Talent website we find it only right to overclock this kit of memory. To start out we started out at 1.8V and the results were shocking.
With 4-4-3-8 timings and just 1.8V the Super Talent DDR2 800 modules were able to overclock all the way up to 941.8MHz, which is impressive for such a small amount of voltage. After finding the limit at 1.8V we cranked up the voltage to 2.1V.
At 2.1V the Super Talent modules were able to gain another 29MHz and this team break the 1GHz mark at 4-4-3-8 timings with 100% stability. While 1001.4MHz is faster than “officially” support memory frequencies we still wanted to go higher. We changed from the Intel 975X reference board and went to the ASUS P5WD2 and raised the voltage to 2.3V and still keep the tight 4-4-3-8 timings.
Now this is more like it! We are running our modules at their rated timings for 800MHz at 1050MHz and all that was needed was a slight bump in the voltage to hit the mark.
If you are interested in the highest frequency that these modules can run at any timing you will be happy to know we hit 1.1GHz.
With relaxed timings our Super Talent 800MHz modules became 1110MHz modules thanks to a little voltage boost. With upcoming AMD boards like the NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI supporting up to 2.5V for DDR2 modules this kit might have more head room on upcoming boards.
