SteelSeries 9H Gaming Headset Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
We now share our experience with the SteelSeries 9H and first off, its a real charming piece of equipment. Examining the physical design, the 9H is a magnificent piece of showmanship. The metal headband and metal hinges lend to what feels to be a fairly durable construction. Lightweight plastic material in other areas keeps the headset weight down. Furthermore, the spacious leather covered padded earcups, the generous cloth covered padded headband, a lightweight braided cord, and mild clamping force make the 9H a very comfortable headset to wear.
The 9H has good playback quality and the stereo soundstage is fairly effective at positional audio recreation. It’s tuned specifically for games exemplifying typical real world sounds such as speech, footsteps, and even falling water. It’s also good for movies and TV shows for the same reasons. The 9H sounds blander with music because it doesn’t try to excessively energize the bass and treble. Equalization changed that to an extent, but this headset is much more focused on gaming. As an extension to that last statement, the microphone has equally capable recording quality for game communication. Voice playback was recognizable and human sounding to other players.
The 9H has an identity and the headset sticks to what it does best. Gaming is in its roots and it fulfills what is expected of that path. Many gamers commit to owning or using one listening device whether that be a set of headphones, speakers, or a headset and as such benefit from say a headphone that has all-around capabilities. The SteelSeries 9H has a steep price for the budgeted gamer as the headset can be found for $122.47 shipped on Amazon. It’s a very worthy buy for someone willing to commit to the strengths of the 9H’s sound characteristic while getting a very comfortable headset. Of course, it can also be for the person with a good amount of cash looking for a good gaming headset. Recommended!
Legit Bottom Line: The SteelSeries 9H headset stays strong to its gaming roots, bringing a sound character tuned for games within a well-constructed and comfortable design.
