Steam Client Beta Gains Support for Switch Pro Controller
If you like to play video games via Steam and prefer to play some titles with a gamepad rather than mouse and keyboard, you will want to check out the latest Steam Client Beta. This Beta adds in support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Support is included for the Pro’s gyro function.
That means motion controls are supported via that controller. If you have one of the controllers and you want to try it out, you need to first opt into the Steam Client Beta. Once you get the beta client installed, you will need to enable Switch Pro configuration Support options inside the Controller Settings Page.
That is the same page where you enable support for PS4 and Xbox controllers. Once the Switch Pro is enabled, you can create, share, and browse Switch Pro Controller configurations on a per-game basis. Players will then need to connect the Switch Pro controller and register it when prompted.
You will want to calibrate the controller by choosing the “calibrate” option under “Detected Controllers.” That will be a big deal if you plan to take advantage of the gyro inside the Pro controller. You will need to create or load an existing configuration file in the Manage Game screen for your game, then you are ready to play says Siliconera.
