Stay Always-On With the New Skype for Windows 8!

By

Skype have blogged about the benefits of the latest version of their Skype VOIP application and unsurprisingly, sound rather enthusiastic about it. Running under Microsoft Windows 8’s new touch interface, it’s designed to remain always-on, so the user never misses a call. It also sits unobrusively side by side with other apps allowing the user to multitask while on a call. Other features include a new, modern dial pad to make it even easier to place calls and integration with Windows 8’s new People app, placing the user’s contacts front and center, making it easier to connect with them. Of course, it’s also designed to integrate perfectly with the new UI and appears as a live tile after downloading it from the Windows Store. The new application will be released at the same time as Windows 8, on October 26. Full details are available at the Skype blog, below.

Bringing Skype to a new platform is always both an opportunity and an adventure. We believe that Windows 8 is a leap into the future of easy and intuitive computing – we’ve built Skype to be with you on that journey and hope you will bring Skype along with you to share the experiences you care about with your friends and family.
