Space shuttles could fly again in May
By
Remember the space shuttle that lost its insulation, the Discovery? Well, NASA officials are diligently working to get the shuttle back in space by May of next year. However, due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina on a New Orleans shuttle assembly plant, this may be pushed back.
The timing of any return to flight depends on how fast NASA’s hurricane-damaged Michoud plant in New Orleans can get back to full strength, space agency officials said. The shuttles’ massive external tanks are assembled at Michoud, and at this point, only 25 percent of employees are working.
