Sony’s Website Confirms Leaked Xperia SL with ICS and 12MP Camera

By

Sony’s upcoming Xperia SL smartphone has been a pretty badly kept secret. However, that secret is officially out, as Sony has now added it to their website.

Main features of the Xperia SL are a 1.7GHz dual core CPU, 4.3 inch scratch-resistant touchscreen with a 1280×720 resolution. The 12MP camera has autofocus with 16x digital zoom (a small optical zoom would have been more impressive) and LED flash. The sensor uses Sony’s Exmor R branding, typically found in many of its regular compact cameras and apparently improves the quality of photos, particularly with low light levels. The Xperia SL ships with the previous Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It would have been nice to see its successor, Jelly Bean, but perhaps that will arrive in a later update? The smartphone will be available in the following colours: black, white, light gray, and light pink.

Sony, in partnership with Box, is offering 50GB of free cloud storage (limited time offer ending December 31, 2012) for Xperia SL customers. Also, it’s a PlayStation certified phone, a big plus for PlayStation gamers. Sony hasn’t yet revealed pricing or availability, instead displaying a “coming soon” banner. Full product details are available at Sony’s website, below.
