Sony Sells Over 1 Million PlayStation 4 Game Consoles in 24 Hours

By

Sony’s PlayStation 4 game console looks like it is doing well so far. Consumers in North America bought more than 1 million PS4s within the first 24 hours of the game console going on sale Friday. That’s the fastest start for a PlayStation system so far. At $399 a pop that means that roughly $400 million dollars in sales on Friday were rang up for just the console alone in the United States and Canada! Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, tweeted about the milestone on Sunday. European sales of the PS4 start in just under two weeks, so expect another wave of sales then. Microsoft’s Xbox One console launches on November 22nd, so it will be interesting to see how the first 24 hours of sales go for that rival console. Needless to say both companies will be fighting for your money this holiday shopping season!
