Sony Japan Turns Off Life Support for PS2
The end has finally come in Japan for the PS2. The console has been obsolete for many years and Sony has continued to offer service for the console until now. Sony stepped up and gave PS2 owners until August 31 to have their consoles registered for repairs.
Any PS2 that lands at the PlayStation Clinic service center in Japan after September 7 wont be serviced. Any owner of a console that didnt register online prior to August 31 had until that date to send in their console.
The PS2 was a huge deal for Sony launching way back in 2000. It sold very well and became the best-selling game console ever reports Kotaku.
It’s sad to see the end come for a console that has so many memories for generations of gamers, but the end had to come at some point. That point is now, if your PS2 fails from here on out, you are out of luck.
