SiSoftware Sandra 2011 v17.15 Released For Download

By

SiSoftware has announced the launch of Sandra 2011, which includes remote analysis, benchmarking and diagnostic features for PCs, servers, mobile devices and networks. The new version has the usual updates and includes three new benchmarks – Media Transcode, GPGPU Cryptography and Blu-ray. Sandra 2011 (Final 17.15) is roughly 21MB in size and download mirrors are being updated now. We downloaded the benchmark a short time ago and have been running the benchmarks on one of our office PCs for fun. Below you can see the brand new GPGPU Cryptography Benchmark and the performance results that we got on an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 video card. As you can see we were getting a Cryptographic Bandwidth of 33MB/s on our overclocked card, but a hashing score of zero. We then noticed that neither GPGPU hashing nor H264 transcoding works with current (2XX) nVidia drivers. These same benchmarks all work fine on AMD and Intel graphics solutions with the latest drivers though. We talked to the makers of the Sandra 2011 and they said that they delayed the launch of the software for more than a month in order to fix this, but in the end didn’t get any support from NVIDIA. Good going NVIDIA!

Sandra GPGPU Cryptography Benchmark

A year ago, SiSoftware released Sandra 2010 with full support for Windows 7; in the 18 months since the launch of Windows 7, more than ever before we have seen the line blur between PC and entertainment hubs. Two months ago we released a Blu-Ray benchmark, now we have added a brand-new Media Transcoding benchmark using the new Media Foundation of Windows 7. We have also added yet another benchmark (GPGPU Cryptography) which allows direct comparison of CPU performance (using crypto instruction sets) and GPGPU performance.
