Seagate One Touch SSD 1TB External Solid State Drive Review
Final Thoughts & Conclusions
The Seagate One Touch SSD is one of the best looking external SSDs on the market and should be appealing to those that are wanting something faster than a hard drive. We were able to reach 450 MB/s sequential read speeds in CrystalDiskMark and finished significantly faster than a hard drive in all but one of our performance tests. The 200GB file copy is the only workload that the Seagate One Touch SSD 1TB finished just behind a portable hard drive. At the end of the day you have your usual SATA-based portable SSD that will do fine under moderate usage scenarios.
Visually, the Seagate One Touch SSD is a pretty cool looking external drive that appears modern. Cloth textures on electronics has been the trend recently and Seagate quickly jumped aboard that train in 2019 when this drive was announced. Having a cloth top means that it can get worn and stained, so who knows how this drive would look several years from now after daily use. The good news is that Seagate placed a 3-year warranty on the One Touch SSD to give you peace of mind in your investment.
What does the Seagate One Touch SSD cost? The 1TB model comes out to being $139.99 shipped and the 500GB model is $69.99 shipped. That puts the price per GB at $0.14 and that is pretty good considering you also get 1-year of Mylio Create and 20-months of Adobe CC Photography with the purchase.
Legit Bottom Line: The Seagate One Touch SSD is not going to be the fastest portable SSD on the market, but it offers good performance, a unique look and some ‘value adder’ software that will be appealing to some!
