Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB Notebook Hard Drive
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
The Seagate Momentus 7200.2 laptop hard drive is not anything new, but I wanted to show our readers that good performance can be had without spending a ton of money. To be honest Seagate didn’t provide this review sample as this was something I picked up on my own. If you find yourself with a notebook that is 2-3 years old that is currently running out of storage space a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 series laptop hard drive might be right for you. They are priced to move and with the uncertainty in the economy they offer great price versus performance value.
I personally replaced an older Fujitsu MHV2060BH 60GB 5400RPM SATA 2.5″ hard drive in my laptop that had an average read speed in HD Tune of 32MBps. By moving to the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB Hard Drive my storage space more than tripled and performance went up 59% as the average read speed it now 51MBps. Not a bad deal considering one of these drives can be purchased online for just $54.99 plus shipping. It is hard to believe that when this drive was released in 2007 that it retailed for over $200! At $0.27 per GB you really can’t complain that the price is too high. The drive seems a little louder when the system is first powered on and the drive spins up, but during normal operation I can’t hear a difference from the old one. The battery life of my notebook also doesn’t seem to be impacted as a significant difference was not see when I looked into that. If you are looking to expand your notebooks storage capacity, give the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB hard drive a look.
Legit Bottom Line: The Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB hard drive is widely available and offers solid performance with a great price tag!
