The Seagate 1TB USB 3 Backup Plus

Seagate Back Up Plus Front Box

Starting off with the front of the packaging of the Seagate 1TB USB 3 Backup Plus HDD. Seagate gives an image of what this drive looks like, also that this drive is capable of handling up 1 TB of DATA storage; not to forget that this drive can used with either a Mac, or a PC.

Turning the box 90 to the right brings us to the side where Seagate lists the general features of this portable HDD.

Seagate Back Up Plus Right Side Box

The final side of the packaging Seagate gives us a general idea of how thin this HDD is, by giving us an image of the actual size of the drive from a side view.

Seagate Back Up Plus Encasement

Seagate uses a two piece plastic clamshell encasing to keep the HDD and accessories from getting damaged while shipping. Seagate also includes an instruction manual inside the packaging.

Seagate Back Up Plus HDD and USB 3 Cable

What the Seagate 1TB USB 3 Backup Plus and the included USB 3 cable looks like once it has been removed from the confines of the plastic clamshell containment. The one thing that has me worried is the length of the USB 3 cable; it is extremely short and measures out to be roughly 18 in overall length.

Seagate Back Up Plus Side

Seagate uses a brushed aluminum upper skin, while the rest of this drive (bottom portion) uses a plastic casing. This is to ensure that this portable is both small in size while also being very light in weight. If you look more closely to the Upper portion of the HDD case (Left side on image) we can see what appears to be a separate point. I Will have to investigate this more closely.

Looking at the USB connector on the Seagate 1TB USB 3 Backup Plus portable HDD; this is not much different from other portable device that requires a USB 3 interconnect cable.

Seagate Back Up Plus USB 3 Adapter Removal

By gently pulling on the lower portion of this portable HDD case reveals that this is just a USB 3 to SATA adapter.

The Seagate Back Up Plus portable HDD utilizes Seagate’s very own USM (Universal Storage Module) connectivity. Seagate is trying to incorporate this type of connector on other electronic devices; such as, TV’s, game consoles, computers, etc., so that we will be able to expand our storage capabilities even farther with these types of powered cable free storage modules.
