Satechi Premium Aluminum 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub Performance:

Satechi Aluminum 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub

The drive we employed to test the hub was the Super Talent USB 3.0 Express 50GB flash drive we recently reviewed. It runs at sufficient speed to fully exercise the potential bandwidth of the hub and expose any limitations it may have. It was plugged into the USB 2.0 port without the turbo software running.

ATTO v2.41

ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and is still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.

ATTO v2.41 – RC8 Drive Via Satechi Hub:

ATTO Satechi Hub Results

Benchmark Results: The ATTO scores show nearly identical performance on the drive, regardless of whether the Satechi hub was used or not so that’s a great sign that no bottlenecks are created with the intermediary hub.

HD Tune v4.01

HD Tune Pro 4.01 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as: write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark. It’s a popular benchmark and perfect for testing thumb drives.

HD Tune v4.01 File Benchmark – RC8 Drive Via Satechi USB 2.0 Hub:

HD Tune Pro File Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: Other than a swap of read scores on the 1024 and 2048 sized tests (a product of the benchmark), performance was virtually identical again. We can safely conclude at this point that the hub does not impact performance.
