Sapphire Pure Platinum A55V Motherboard Launched

By

Sapphire has launched the Pure Platinum A55V Motherboard (model: PT-A8A55V) for AMD APUs. Using the A55 chipset, it’s a basic board that offers a few nice feature surprises and certainly doesn’t feel as devoid of features as what many of Sapphire’s competitors are offering.

It has one x16 PCI-E slot, two x1 PCI-E slots and three PCI slots. It has six SATA 3Gbps ports in a column at the bottom right. The extra goodies come in the form of a dual BIOS (a typical Gigabyte feature) POST debug LED and buttons for power, reset and CMOS clear, which are a nice touch on a budget motherboard like this.

Backpanel ports look a little thin on the ground, but cover the basics. It has four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, ethernet, HDMI & DVI and sound. Interestingly, it has a single purple/green PS/2 port which can take either a mouse or keyboard.

One feature we can’t quite figure out is the inclusion of a front USB 3.0 pin header, yet we can only locate one USB 3.0 host controller and it appears to be connected to the rear USB 3.0 ports and the board isn’t sharing the same PCB as one of Sapphire’s other models.
