SanDisk 16GB SDHC Netbook Memory Card
16GB Netbook SDHC Card Benchmarking
To benchmark the SanDisk 16GB SDHC Netbook Memory Card we fired up CrystalDiskMark v2.2, which is a small HDD benchmark utility for your storage drive that enables you to rapidly measure sequential and random read/write speeds.
Just for fun, we ran the benchmark on the original 4GB SSD that came with the ASUS Eee PC 900 to see what king of performance the main storage drive has on this netbook. The results showed that the sequential read speed averaged 40MB/s with a write speed of 5.5MB/s.
With the SanDisk 16GB SDHC Netbook Memory Card in the Secure Digital removable storage slot on the ASUS Eee PC 900, the same benchmark showed that the performance of the Class 2 card was different than that of the internal drive. The results showed that the sequential read speed averaged 10MB/s with a write speed of 6.5MB/s. This means that the read speed is significantly slower, but the write speed is faster!
Firing up SiSoftware Sandra 2009 SP3 and running the removable storage benchmark showed the read and write performance peaked in the 64MB Files Test at 9.6MB/s read and 5.33MB/s write. It looks like the SanDisk 16GB SDHC Netbook Memory Card gets the job done, but isn’t going to win any awards for being a speed demon!
