Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Confirmed

By

Samsungs newest tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced and said to be coming soon to Vodafone network. The next-generation tablets follows the success of the Galaxy Tab that was launched a year ago to directly challenge the Apple Computer iPad features a 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor with a 10.1-inch screen at 1280×800 resolution. It will be one of the first tablets to ship that will run Googles Android 3.0 mobile operating system. Motorola has announced a similar tablet the Motorola XOOM that runs Android 3.0 as well, but hasnt issued a release date or carrier. It looks to be an interesting shoot out in the months ahead.

And another interesting twist is that Samsung Semiconductor makes the A4 processor used in the iPad. The fact that Samsung has opted for Nvidia in its own 10-inch class tablet means there’s some unusual chip-sourcing dynamics taking place between Apple and Samsung. (The 7-inch Galaxy Tab uses a Samsung chip.)
