Samsung First to Bring MHL Monitors to Market

Samsung have released two new monitors. While they look like regular monitors at first glance, they actually have a unique feature: they support the Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) standard, allowing them to connect easily to a mobile phone also supporting the standard. There are currently two models, the 23 inch S23B550VS Full HD LED monitor and the 27 inch S27B550VS Full HD LED monitor. The only downside at the moment, is that the necessary MHL to micro USB cables are not yet available, but they will be soon.

So, what is MHL? MHL is a new technology out last year, that allows a mobile phone supporting MHL to connect to a HDMI input on a TV, using the phone’s micro USB connector. On top of that, an MHL TV or monitor gives enhanced functionality and interaction with the phone, such as controlling video playback from the TVs remote control.
