Samsung Electronics to Disclose Music Download Program
Samsung Electronics, Korea?s biggest digital products maker, aims to duplicate its dominance in memory chips to MP3 players by forging a digital media player application like iTunes of Apple Computer. A bold statement is made when Samsung is moving away from the NAND flash devices to the hard drives!
Samsung, a latecomer in the MP3 digital audio player business, has tried to catch up with Apple, which commands in the portable audio jukebox market. The Seoul-based firm especially has vended flash memory-based items with a brand of Yepp and sold about 1.7 million MP3 players last year, not a satisfactory figure for the global electronics giant. In comparison, Samsung, the world?s biggest producer of NAND flash memory, struggled in the MP3 player market because it stick to the flash-oriented strategy. Samsung has now caught wind of the global trend and jumped onto the HDD bandwagon.
