ATTO & AS-SSD Synthetic Benches

ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and is still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.

Benchmark Results: Very consistent performance turned in by the RunCore Pro V. It’s dead on what we expect to see from SF-1200 based drives and a hair off the fastest SATA II read scores we’ve seen on this benchmark. Scores easily exceeded the 260MB/s read/write speed specified by RunCore.

AS-SSD Benchmark

We have been running the AS-SSD Benchmark app for over a year now and found that it gives a broad result set. Many testers are using the 4k file size read/write results for the IO Meter benchmark which is an old tool and the AS-SSD benchmark essentially shows the same metric in its results set. The programmer worked very hard on this software and continues to make updates often so if you use it, show him some love.

Benchmark Results: No surprises here as the scores are nearly identical to the other SandForce based drives in our comparison chart. SandForce drives don’t score as well on this benchmark as the data used is incompressible. The next generation of SandForce controllers can’t come soon enough to shake things up.
