Rumor Says Razer and Microsoft Working to Bring Mouse and Keyboard to Xbox One
For many gamers who started on the PC, the mouse and keyboard are the input method they want for gaming. The lack of support for the mouse and keyboard is also the reason some PC gamers never play on consoles. A leaked document is making the rounds that claims Microsoft and Razer are working on bringing a mouse and keyboard option to the Xbox One for games other than Minecraft.
Console fans who routinely play with a gamepad might not like that idea. Some have long maintained that the greater control offered with a mouse and keyboard compared to a gamepad would give the mouse and keyboard users an edge in shooters. Data that surfaced along with the leak indicates that Microsoft is looking at the Razer Turret, which is a keyboard with a mousing surface on the side that allows gamers to play from their couch.
Documents in this leak aren’t exactly clear on if Microsoft is still moving forward with mouse and keyboard support, but the software giant has promised support for a mouse and keyboard before. However, the documents did talk about some of the features of the mouse including support for up to five buttons.
Mouse wheel horizontal and vertical movement would be supported, and the Xbox would be able to query the mouse for capabilities. Other features include the ability to report absolute pointer location, relative pointer movement, ability to set cursor glyph and visibility, and a new API to poll the data. Games would be able to note the presence of a mouse and keyboard and balance the game as the devs want. Microsoft says that matchmaking rules could control the use of a keyboard and mouse reports Comicbook.
