Rumor: ASUS Transformer Prime Being Held Till December 2011

The rumor mill today is saying that the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet PC is going to be delayed until December 2011 in order for it to ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This tablet has been long-awaited as it is rumored to be the world’s first tablet with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor! This is of course just a rumor and we’ll find out the truth tonight if that is when the ASUS Transformer Prime was supposed to be launched.

Asustek Computer, which had originally been set to launch its latest Transformer Prime tablet PC with Android 3.2 on November 9, has postponed the launch schedule to early December as Google reportedly agreed to provide assistance to help the machine to natively feature Android 4.0, according to sources from upstream supply chain. Since Google has cold-shouldered Taiwan-based PC brand vendors over the assistance of upgrading from Android 3.0 to 4.0, it has prompted these vendors to turn their focus from Android to Microsoft’s Windows 8, the sources noted.
