Razer Game Store Closes this Month

Razer wanted to get in on the digital sales action for video games to fight against Steam. The problem for Razer is that gamers stayed away. The Razer Game Store launched last April, and Razer has now announced that the store will close this month.

The store closure is part of Razer’s realignment plans. Razer has offered no official reason as to why the store is closing, but poor sales has to be the reason. Razer tried to tie sales discounts to hardware purchases.

Razer is most known for making high-end gaming gear like mice and keyboards as well as the Razer Blade gaming notebook. There is no word on how much money Razer made from its digital store.

Steam, on the other hand, made $4.7 billion in 2017 reports TechCrunch. Developers are tired of paying Steam fees though, and alternative game stores are launching, such as the Epic Games Store.
