QNAP TS-419P+ Turbo NAS 4-Bay Network Storage Review
QNAP TS-419P+ – Final Thoughts & Conclusions
Without the ability to stream to other devices, the TS-419P+ would not really stand out from other devices. When I was asked to do this review, I knew I would immediately test the streaming capability of the NAS, and I must admit I was a bit skeptical. Having used other NAS boxes in the hopes that they would stream perfectly well never ended well. I must say though, QNAP has created a wonderful box here.
As you can see streaming MP4s to an iPad works almost perfectly. The load times of the file are near instant, with no skips or jitters. The iPad is even only running on Wireless G speeds!
The same goes for an Xbox 360. I have streamed nearly every movie I can get my hands on from my collection, including Cartoons, Live Action, Comedy and have yet to have any issues. I was a bit weary of streaming to an Xbox 360 as the connection is only a 10/100 connection, whereas the NAS and Mac Pro are running using a full Gigabit connection.
The QNAP TS-419P+ is one of the best NAS devices I have ever used. Although the cost of this device can be a bit prohibitive for some users, the NAS without drives is $599.99, I believe the QNAP TS-419P+ offers enough capabilities and features to appease even the most picky Home Theater User. Instead of having to build PCs for every room of your home, this device and easily serve as the Front and Back Ends.
Legit Bottom Line: The $599.99 QNAP TS-419P+ Turbo NAS is versatile NAS that has incredible potential for the most picky Home Theater User. With the ability to stream of a multitude of devices, we can see the device making its way into many of a Home Theater Builders wish list!
