PUBG Sequel Not On The Radar
PUBG has grown in popularity at an incredible pace over the last year or so. It’s broken the concurrent player record on Steam beating out all comers. It has already sold 10 million copies and the game hasn’t even launched yet. If you are one of the many wondering what will come in the sequel to the hit game, the answer is maybe nothing.
The game’s creator says that a sequel isn’t even on the radar just yet. That doesn’t mean there aren’t more features and cool things coming to the game though. The creator of the game, Brendan Greene, says that he won’t be holding any ideas back from the current game for a sequel. He plans to simply keep building cool and new features into PUBG and allowing the game to grow rather than rolling out a sequel reports CinemaBlend.
This is the same formula that Minecraft has used so successfully. There is no Minecraft 2 but with all the new features that are added to the game frequently, there is plenty of new for fans to continue to enjoy many years after the game originally launched.
Greene told IGN, “We’re building this game as a service. We’ll still have the boxed copy that you buy…we still want to polish and refine and add more maps, add more assets, and continually refine the gameplay and optimize as we go forward.”
Creating new content like maps, weapons, and modes for the game should be a cinch for Greene and his crew. The PUBG team was broken off into its own company with the only goal being to develop new stuff for the game. Not having to wait for a sequel for more content and new features is better than devs taking years off to bring a sequel.
