PowerColor Set To Launch AMD Radeon HD 7990 Dual-GPU Video Card?

By

Rumor has it that AMD will not release a reference design for the Radeon HD 7990 video card, which is a bit shocking. If the rumors are true it appears that each AIB partner will be allowed to design and release their own cards. The good news is that the AMD Radeon HD 7990 (AKA: AMD Radeon HD 7970 X2) appears to be close to launching, but the bad news is that the price take is said to be close to $999 and that production will be limited. We have talked about the Powercolor Radeon HD 7970 X2 Devil 13 video card since May 2012, so this has been a long time coming! It appears that the final design of the card has slightly changed and can be seen below. Online reports claim this card will run 1000MHz on the core clock in OC mode and 925MHz at default clock speeds. The 6GB of GDDR5 memory is reported to run at 5500MHz. It will be interesting to see how much power this cards uses, how much it will cost and when it will be released!

Also the card has been slightly modified, but those are strictly visual changes. First is the BIOS switch moved to the middle of the bracket (was on the left side). Then there is a missing portion of the cooler on the right side (seems it was too long). Also the fans are now full black, not red/black as shown at Computex. Moreover, two fans have been resized by at least 10mm (more heat then). I cant see any other differences (but I expect some changes to the PCB).
