PlayStation 3 ‘hacked’ by iPhone Cracker

He hasn’t released just how he did it yet but proclaimed hacker George Hortz has announced that he has hacked the PS3 which has remained relatively unscathed by hackers up until now. Odds are good that Sony will act swiftly once details emerge and likely follow Microsoft’s lead by cutting off users from online services who are found to have implemented the hack.
A US hacker who gained notoriety for unlocking Apple’s iPhone as a teenager has told BBC News that he has now hacked Sony’s PlayStation 3 (PS3). George Hotz said the hack, which could allow people to run pirated games or homemade software, took him five weeks.
