ioSafe has created a reputation for attempting to creatively destroy one of their rugged external storage enclosures. Since Thunderbolt was very popular in the external storage markets for CES 2012, ioSafe decided their new Thunderbolt Rugged Portable drive should be put to the ultimate test of its name. So the guys over at ioSafe justifiably used a tesla coil to generate nearly one million volts and zapped the drive to see if it could take a direct lightening strike.
Seagate was showing off the companies pair of Thunderbolt solutions at CES 2012 this week in Las Vegas. While at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas we stopped by the AMD suite and checked out what they were showing off for the show. This year the company was showing off the upcoming ‘Trinity’ APU, Lighting Bolt I/O technology, AMD powered tablets, and both desktop and mobile Radeon HD 7000 series video cards. Razer is showing off a tablet called ‘Project Fiona’ that managed to catch our attention at CES this year. The tablet is expected to be powered by Intel’s 3rd generation Core i7 Ivy Bridge Processor if it goes to market and is aimed at gamers. We had a chance to meet with EVGA this morning and they had most of their usual stuff on display. What caught our eyes were the latest version of the EVGA Classified SR-2, the SR-X. The EVGA SR-X is a Dual Intel LGA2011 socket motherboard and it will support nearly 100 Gb of memory! The other EVGA Products that caught our eyes were a series of power supplies that EVGA is going to be releasing in 2012!
Last night Legit Reviews had the opportunity to spend some time with Corsair. While mainly known for their Memory and Power Supplies, their cases are also hitting the market like a ton of bricks! The Corsair Obsidian 550D and the Corsair Carbide 300R are Corsair’s latest entries into the PC case market. After spending a few minutes with them last night, once again it seems that Corsair hit the nail on the head! Cases aren’t the only thing that they showed off; they are also announcing the Corsair Accelerate SSD Caching!
While Intel is being tight lipped about the up and coming ‘Ivy Bridge’ platform, GIGABYTE gave us a little bit of hands on time with five of their motherboards. The Intel Z77 Express chipset supports the next generation of Intel 22nm processors. Each of the GIGABYTE motherboards we are about to show off support ‘Ivy Bridge’. We didn’t get any time with processors, so performance is still a mystery, but GIGABYTE has a pretty solid product stack already!
