Overwatch Rumor Tips Anniversary Event Incoming

If you are a player of the video game Overwatch, there is some good news in the works that you will like. A rumor is going around that to celebrate the anniversary of the game’s launch there might be a couple cool things coming. One of those cool things is an anniversary event and the other is a Game of the Year Edition of the title.

If you already own the game, the anniversary event will be the more interesting of the rumors. This rumor comes from dataminers that discovered some indications of a special anniversary event in the PTR patch that landed recently. If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, the Overwatch twitter account also answered a question about a potential anniverary event with the response “No timing details yet.”

If you don’t have a copy of the game yet, or find that you must own all versions of your favorite games, Gamespot reports that an Xbox Store listing for an Overwatch Game of the Year edition was discovered with a release date set for May 23.

The game description notes that the special edition would include ten loot boxes, skins for five characters, the Baby Winston pet in World of Warcraft, and tracer as a playable character in Heroes of the Storm among other things. The skins included are apparently for the same five characters that are offered in the Origins edition.

The Game of the Year Edition is expected to land for PS4 and PC gamers as well. Gamespot reports that in less than a year Overwatch has become Blizzard’s eight billion dollar franchise, which is insane.
