OtterBox and Incipio Cases For The Motorla Atrix 4G Smartphone Reviewed
Otterbox Defender Series Silicone Case
Last but not least, we have the $49.95 Motorola Atrix 4G Defender Series Case by OtterBox. The part number on this exact case is MOT2-ATRIX-20-E4OTR_A and the only color this type of case is available is black. This is the toughest case that OtterBox makes for the Motorola Atrix 4G and is a very serious case. This case completely encloses your phone and is designed to withstand many different environments.
The Motorola Atrix 4G Defender Series Case comes with a holster, so if you like or work in a place that requires holsters then this case should be of interest for you. When you pull the Defender Series Case from the box you’ll find just the holster and the case. We couldn’t find the instructions at first, but then noticed that OtterBox printed them inside the box, so be sure to look there. At first glance this case doesn’t look that rugged, but take a look at this.
The Defender Series by OtterBox is made up of a series of protective layers that help protect it from scratches, dust, drips, bumps and shock. First you have an inner hard plastic shell that has a foam pad that the Motorola Atrix sits on.
Once you sit your Motorola Atrix 4G on the high-impact polycarbonate shell you can place the top cover on, which features a built-in screen protector that should help against scratches and even some light splashes and rain. Once you get that cover installed you then pull the impact absorbing silicone case over the hard shell case that you just put your phone in. This case uses both a hard shell case (with a foam pad on the inside) and a silicone case to protect your Atrix!
Once you get the case all together you can either use it like it is or use the optional holster. This case offers the most protection, but is obviously the bulkiest of the bunch.
The holster clip is made from plastic, but it appears to be very well designed and made from high quality material. The belt clips rotates 360-degrees and is textured on the back to help keep it form sliding between your belt loops.
Here is a quick shot of the OtterBox Defender Series case with the Motorola Atrix 4G inside and all protected in the holster. The thumb lever for the holster is decently sized and removing the Atrix was fairly easy and it definitely won’t fall out on accident.
OtterBox left all of the essential areas like the speaker, finger print scanner and the camera open, but the headphone jack, HDMI header and USB charging ports were covered with silicone flaps to keep debris from getting in the ports.
The OtterBox Defender Series case for the Motorola Atrix 4G is one of the only heavy-duty cases available for this particular phone and if you need a case like this it is an easy choice. With the Defender on the Motorola Atrix 4G it feels like the phone is encased in armor and can never get hurt. This case has an MSRP of $49.95, but much to our amazement it can found for just $27.15 shipped from Amazon.com. Not a bad price to pay for this much protection for a phone that costs in the hundreds to replace if you break it.
As you can see each of these phones appeals to different audiences and at different price points, so at the end of the day just be sure to pick the one that fits your needs!
