Online Pricing Leaks Show AMD Ryzen R7 1800X CPU Priced At $490
For a while now, Intel has dominated the CPU market and pushed AMD into the budget CPU category. Luckily, AMD has been developing something that will bring back some healthy competition. AMD’s Ryzen 8 core CPU will feature 16 threads and will start at around $316 according to shopblt.com.
The Intel Core i7-7700K is priced at $349.39 and the Core i7-6900K is over $1030, so this is a could be seen as a very competitive price point if the performance on the AMD Ryzen R7 1700, R7 1700X and R7 1800X 8-core processors have good performance.
As we reported yesterday, rumor has it that AMD Ryzen CPUs will be available starting at 4 cores and 4/8 threads, 6 cores and 12 threads, and 8 cores with 16 threads. Information such as clock speeds, TDP, and price is very limited right now as nothing has been disclosed by AMD just yet.
The pricing website leaks show that the lowest priced AMD Ryzen R7 1700 will run 65W TDP and reach up to 3.7 GHz while the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X will be a 95W TDP part with a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and can be overclocked to 4 GHz. Not bad if the price point is really $499 and it performs on par with an Intel Core i7 6900K processor. We can’t wait to review one of these processors to see how it compares to Intel’s current line of CPUs because nothing is wrong with a little competition.
